Should have gone to Specsavers? Car crashes into opticians in Kent

It is thought the crash took place on Sunday

Sometimes a punch line to a joke is so obvious it almost hurts to say it, and this was the case when a car crashed into a Specsavers shop front in Kent this weekend.

The opticians, known for its catchy advertising slogan, took a hit from a silver Ford Focus in the high street in Sevenoaks on Sunday.

Onlooker Philip Holland told Metro he arrived at the scene at around 12.30pm, by which time two police officers were present, but there was no sign of any driver or ambulance crews.
The crash scene from inside the shop

It is not thought that anyone was seriously injured in the crash.

‘It appears that it may have been a runaway car, perhaps someone didn’t put on the hand brake properly,’ he said.

‘The red fluid is almost certainly engine coolant, as the radiator was ruptured when the car hit the store window.’
The car was later removed from the shop front

Mr Holland said that the car had been removed when he and his wife Federica returned an hour later.

‘Pretty funny it crashed into a Specsavers though,’ he added. ‘I mean what are the chances?’

Kent police were not available for comment.
