POLITICS: Gov. Mimiko's 2nd Term In Office (Inauguration)

Ondo State, also known as the 'Sunshine State’ will this Sunday, welcome not less than 1,000 notable Nigerians expected to witness the inauguration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko as governor for a second term.

Dr Mimiko was first sworn-in as governor of Ondo on February 24, 2009 after passing through legal battles for two years.

Speaking on the level of preparation made on the inauguration ceremony, the state Commissioner for Information and member of the inauguration committee, Mr Kayode Akinmade, mentioned former interim president, Chief Ernest Shonekan and a former vice-president, Allhaji Abubarkar Atiku, as some of the guests expected on the occasion.




Others included Governors Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rochas Okorocha, Theodore Orji and Godswill Akpabio of Anambra, Rivers, Imo, Abia and Akwa Ibom states, respectively.


Also expected are Babangida Aliyu, Ibrahim Shema, Gabriel Suswan and Seriaki Dickson, governors of Niger, Katsina, Benue and Bayelsa states.

According to Akinmade, Chief Edwin Clark, and a former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, are also expected at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Dr Christopher Kolade, will, on Saturday, chairman the inaugural lecture which will be held at the Adegbemile House, Akure, as part of activities marking the inauguration ceremony.

Eminent scholar and a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, will deliver the inauguration lecture, themed: “Leadership, Democracy and Development: A Paradigm Relations.”



The events marking the Inauguration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko for the 2nd term in office will be streamed live officially by Naija Live Events from 23rd-24th Feb. 2013.
